Virtual Care Policy
Eligibility for Virtual Appointments
Supreme Medical Clinic offers virtual appointments after a patient has completed their first visit in person.
To continue using virtual care, patients must attend at least one in-person appointment every 12 months.
Some concerns may still require an additional in-person assessment.
When Virtual Care May Be Appropriate
- Certain follow-up appointments
- Medication discussions
- Review of previously assessed concerns
- Chronic-condition follow-up
- Mental-health follow-up
- Test-result discussions
Suitability depends on the patient's needs and clinical circumstances.
When In-Person Care May Be Required
- A physical examination is necessary
- Testing or measurement is needed
- Symptoms are new, changing or difficult to assess virtually
- There are privacy, communication or technical limitations
- The clinician determines in-person assessment is more appropriate
A scheduled virtual appointment may be changed to an in-person appointment when necessary.
Privacy and Technology
Patients should:
- Join from a private location
- Use a secure device and connection where possible
- Avoid recording the appointment without permission
- Ensure their contact information is current
- Inform the clinic if another person is present
Technology can experience interruptions. The clinic may continue by telephone, reschedule or arrange an in-person appointment where appropriate.
Emergency Limitation
Virtual care is not an emergency service.
